Why this page exists
Advisory work sits next to several regulated professions, and the line between them matters — to you, when deciding who to bring in, and to us, in being clear about what we are.
This page sets out those boundaries in one place, so that the rest of the website does not have to carry a warning on every paragraph.
What Piacini does
Scope of services
Piacini provides business advisory and strategic consulting services. Legal, tax, accounting, immigration and other regulated matters are handled by appropriately licensed professionals. Nothing on this site constitutes legal, tax, accounting, immigration or investment advice.
In practice, that means understanding a business situation, investigating it, evaluating alternatives, supporting a decision and helping translate that decision into execution priorities. It does not mean acting in any regulated capacity, and it does not mean taking over management of a company.
No legal advice
Piacini is not a law firm and does not practise law. Nothing on this website, and nothing in a conversation with us, is legal advice or a legal opinion, and no attorney-client relationship is created by reading this site or contacting us.
Entity structuring, contracts, disputes, regulatory obligations, employment law and similar matters require licensed counsel in the relevant jurisdiction.
No tax or accounting advice
Piacini is not an accounting firm and does not provide tax, audit or bookkeeping services. We are not a CPA firm, and we do not prepare or sign financial statements or tax filings.
Where we discuss unit economics, margins, cost structure or the financial shape of a decision, we do so as business analysis. Tax treatment, accounting policy, statutory reporting and compliance filings should be handled by a qualified accountant or tax adviser.
No immigration advice
Piacini does not provide immigration advice or services, does not prepare immigration filings, and does not represent anyone before immigration authorities.
Questions about visas, work authorization, residency or immigration status — including questions that arise when a foreign owner sets up or operates a U.S. business — should be directed to a licensed immigration attorney or another appropriately authorized professional.
No investment or securities advice
Piacini is not an investment adviser, broker-dealer, or securities or fundraising intermediary. We do not provide investment advice, do not recommend securities, and do not solicit or place investments.
Nothing on this website is an offer to sell or a solicitation to buy any security or interest in any business, or a recommendation about any investment. Investment decisions should be made with an appropriately licensed adviser.
Special situations
Important
Piacini provides business and strategic advisory and does not provide legal services. Matters requiring legal analysis or representation should be handled by appropriately licensed counsel.
Where we support a company facing a difficult commercial or operational situation, that support is business advisory: understanding what is at stake, structuring the diagnosis, evaluating alternatives and supporting decision and negotiation strategy. It is not legal representation, it is not a substitute for counsel, and it should not be treated as either.
No guarantee of business outcomes
Piacini does not guarantee any business, commercial or financial result. We do not promise revenue growth, margin improvement, successful market entry, a particular negotiation outcome or any other specific result.
Business outcomes depend on execution, capital, timing, market conditions, competition, the people involved and decisions made by the client — most of which sit outside an adviser's control. Decisions about a business remain the responsibility of the people who own and run it.
Market research, estimates and projections
Market sizing, feasibility analysis, economic assumptions, scenarios and projections are analytical tools. They are built on assumptions and on information available at a point in time, and they carry uncertainty by nature.
They are not guarantees, forecasts of fact or promises of performance. Where the underlying assumptions change — and in a live market they generally do — the conclusions built on them change too. We flag the assumptions we rely on so that they can be tested rather than inherited.
Past experience and prior engagements
This website describes the operating history of Piacini's founder and examples of prior work. Those descriptions are historical and are provided to show the experience behind the advisory perspective.
Past experience does not guarantee future results. Figures presented as operating history describe that history, not client results, and not returns of any kind. Where an outcome is described, many factors contributed to it, and no claim is made that advisory work alone produced it.
Third-party information
Our analysis may draw on third-party data, published research, public filings and market sources. We select sources with care but do not independently verify all third-party information, and we do not warrant its accuracy or completeness.
Third-party data may be incomplete, dated, methodologically limited or superseded. Links from this website to external resources are provided for convenience and are not an endorsement.
Working alongside licensed professionals
Most consequential business decisions have regulated components. A market-entry decision may involve entity formation, tax structuring and immigration questions; a difficult commercial situation may involve counsel.
Our practice is to identify where a regulated professional is needed and to say so, and to work alongside the professionals a client engages. We do not step into those roles, and a client should not treat our input as a substitute for them.
No client relationship created by this website
Using this website, submitting the qualification form, requesting an initial assessment or having a preliminary conversation does not create a consulting or advisory engagement, and does not make you a client of Piacini.
An engagement begins only when the parties enter into a written agreement or otherwise formally agree to engagement terms. See our Terms of Use.
Sending us confidential information
A general website inquiry is not a confidential channel, and information sent before an engagement is in place is not protected by the confidentiality provisions of an engagement agreement.
Please describe your situation in enough detail for us to understand it — that is what the form is for — but do not send trade secrets, privileged material, or highly sensitive commercial or personal information through a general inquiry unless appropriate arrangements, such as a confidentiality agreement, are already in place.
If a matter requires confidentiality from the first conversation, say so in your message and we will put arrangements in place before you share the substance.
